Social Action

The Bible says a lot about the poor and disadvantaged, as Christians we are exhorted throughout the pages of the Bible to care for the poor and needy.

It is at the heart of Brighton Vineyard’s vision to share the gospel with compassion and generosity and one of the best ways to do this is to share with more disadvantaged in Brighton and Hove. With this in mind as a Church we are involved in a range of different ministries with the disadvantaged members of our community, where the aim is to share God’s love with those who need it in a practical and supportive way.

There are some practical things we can do as a Church to serve these groups. As a Church we are set aside a sum of money from the Church’s regular giving to support these projects.

The aim is that we help with specific projects such as decorating a room, gardening, or simple DIY. We aiming not to ‘bite off more than we can chew’ in the projects we undertake, so please rest assured you will not be over-committing yourself if you'd like to help.

Following are some of our recent projects...

Decorating Projects - We have links with Hove YMCA who provide supported accommodation for young people who have been made homeless in Brighton and Hove.  Volunteers help decorate the new homes of people to help them settle in to the community.

Carpenter’s Arms - We help St. Lukes running their monthly evening service for disadvantaged members of the community, and the homeless.  We share a hot meal together followed by a short Church service. If you would like to get involved please contact Rik Child at the Church Office.

Gardening Projects - Brighton Vineyard has teamed up with another local church recently to clear a number of gardens for people in the Whitehawk area of Brighton.  This is a project we'd like to do again soon, if you know of someone who would be bless having their garden cleared then please contact the Church Office.
