Regular Events

Housegroups
Meet weekly at different locations in the city including Brighton, Hangleton, Hanover, Portslade, Lewes and Seaford. All welcome. See flyers in church for details or contact the church offices during office hours (Thursdays and Fridays 9:00am to 5:00pm).

The Evening Service
July 27th 2008 at Komedia, right in the centre of the city, round the corner form the train station. The entrance is on the corner of Regent Street or see their website for more directions.
An opportunity for you to find out about Jesus, get prayer and healing and to have the chance to ask questions in a relaxed atmosphere. We do an evening service once a month in Brighton. The music is live, great to listen to, and the bar is open! We're aiming for the service to be fun, with a ten minute story from someone who has recently met Jesus, and a short talk. If you - or someone you know is even vaguely interested in God then you'll probably enjoy it. If you like good music then you'll definitely enjoy it!
We always give an opportunity for people to respond to Jesus, receive prayer or follow up with an introduction to Christianity (Alpha). We need helpers + musos so if you like a church that wants to reach out to our culture, then this might be the place for you. So come along... just as you are.

Saturday Morning Teaching Sessions:
The aim of these sessions is to train, equip and encourage. Please come to as many as you like. Dates TBC depending on the level of interest shown so please email or call the offices to say if you are interested (by the 31st January).

How to interpret the Bible (Hermeneutics) A useful session for anyone wanting to grow in their understanding of how to read, interpret and apply God’s word to life today. The seminar will focus on key issues such as how, and why should I read the Bible and how do I understand it today? Led by Chris Simmons and Tim Worthley. Chris is the Senior Pastor at Brighton Vineyard Church. Tim is a qualified doctor and co-worker at the Church.

Who is the Holy Spirit and what does He do? A practical session teaching about the third and less well known person of the trinity - God the Holy Spirit. This session will look at his activity amongst people as revealed in Scripture, help define his role and purposes for us today, as well as include practical teaching about how to recognise him and co-labour with him in today's world. led by Phil & Shirley Crabbe. Phil and Shirley were both in leadership at Kensington Temple Church in central London and currently lead a housegroup at Brighton Vineyard.

The role of the law vs the role of the Spirit: This is a theologically geared teaching session, focusing on the apostle Paul’s understanding of the Law, its present role, and the role of the Spirit. It aims to answer the question, ‘How then should we live?’ led by Chris Simmons.

Worship. What is it and why / how do I do it? This session will help answer the above questions by looking at the place and meaning of worship as revealed by God in the Bible, and as expressed by a few Biblical personalities. The session is very practical and will help define what worship is/is not, and how it can be expressed in our contemporary world. led by Linda Ronald. Linda leads the Worship Ministry at Brighton Vineyard Church.

Community Action Projects
As a church we are involved in a range of different ministries to the disadvantaged members of our community, where the aim is to share God’s love with those who need it in a practical and supportive way.

Community Action Prayer Meetings
Meeting every 6 weeks at 10am in the ‘Blue Lounge’ area in the entrance to BHASVIC. The next 4 dates are as follows: 10th August, 21st September, 9th November, & 21st December.
Contact Kate for more details.

Decorating Projects:
We currently have links with Hove YMCA who provide supported accommodation for young people who have been made homeless in Brighton and Hove. Volunteers from the church help decorate the new homes of people to help them settle in the community.

Carpenter's Arms: 27th July & 24th August
Members of the church attend and support this monthly evening service at St. Luke's Church, Prestonville. It is aimed at providing a short service with a meal for disadvantaged members of the community, including the homeless (see above for details of the next service).

Gardening Projects:
Brighton Vineyard teamed up with another local church last year to clear a number of people’s gardens in the Whitehawk area of Brighton; we’re hoping to do this again.
If you would like to get involved, or would like more information, or have your own idea of something we can do, please contact the church offices on 01273 719898 or Kate on 01273 414896. There are also leaflets at church on Sundays with more info - please feel free to pick one up.

Ministry Trips & Conferences

Danish Summer Camp 20th July - 26th July 2008
We are taking a team to the Baptist Summer camp in Denmark this year. Leaving Gatwick on the 18th July and arriving home on the 25th July.
The camp is in beautiful surroundings in northern Denmark and will cost £200 for the flights, a rented car and accommodation in a rented house (this does not include food). Chris will be speaking & ministering on several of the days and will need people to help minister! It should be great fun and a real opportunity to minister cross culturally with our Danish friends and experience God’s presence together. So if you haven’t been on a ministry trip before, this might just be for you! All are welcome regardless of experience. Please Contact the office for more details.
